The morning of your wedding day is a special time that you'll want to remember for the rest of your life. It's the start of the day when you'll marry the love of your life, and everything leading up to that moment should be amazing. That's why the bridal morning is so important.
The bridal morning is a time for you to relax, prepare yourself for the day ahead, and spend some quality time with your bridal party. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your bridal morning:
Get plenty of rest the night before: It's important to get a good night's sleep before your wedding day. Let's face it, sleep evades us on the eve of the wedding - not many brides I know have a full 8 hours..! But get into bed early enough and at least let your body rest. This will help you feel refreshed and energized for the day ahead. And drink some water before bed, especially if you have a couple of cocktails the night before..
Have a healthy breakfast: Eating a nutritious breakfast will give you the energy you need to get through the day. Choose foods that are high in protein and complex carbohydrates, like eggs, whole-grain toast, and fruit. If you're having a little breakfast mimosa with your girls, don't do it on an empty stomach... trust me.
Have a plan for your hair and makeup: Obviously your hair/makeup people will have given you a schedule. If you are not using someone that does both, make sure they are in tune with how the morning will work alongside each other. I always aim to have everyone ready around an hour before the ceremony. This gives time for drinks, photos with girls, getting ready photos and generally getting 'ready' for the next bit!
Spend time with your bridal party: The bridal morning is a great time to spend some quality time with your bridal party. You can have breakfast together, get ready together, or just hang out and relax. This all sounds great of course but the wedding morning has an unusually fast time frame! So, once you know your hair/makeup schedule, let the girls know when they have a time slot to eat and do any errands for you that need doing (steaming dresses, taking tags off things, sorting the playlist, organising those drinks..)
Get your girls, or whoever will be with you to organise a bit of house admin, small sewing kit, scissors, safety pin, plasters and compeed for those that might need it. Bring the steamer. Bring a small speaker for the tunes. Hang the dress and veil up.
Playlist - Delegate this to someone if it's not your thing, or make yourself that dreamy playlist that will get you excited for your day. If all else fails, get a mix on Spotify to do it for you.
Your hotel room or space where you are getting ready needs to house quite a few people at any one time! When the hair and makeup is in full swing, flowers are arriving, breakfast delivered, photographer and videographer arrive to do their bit it can get busy... Try and make sure you have allocated space for what you would like photographed and lay out the items ready for them to be photographed. It helps immensely that you aren't trying to find those things as everyone gets there.
You should be ready approximately one hour before your ceremony - allow this time so you have some time to prepare, get into the dress, last minute touches and photos. The photographer will need enough time to do these shots before heading off to the church or venue for your arrival.
Flowers - they can be kept cool in the bathroom in water on the morning. Ask one of the girls to take them out of water and dry them in time to hand out for when you are ready to leave. You don't want dripping water all down your dress...
Take some time for yourself: It's important to take some time for yourself on your wedding day. Take a few moments to meditate, do some yoga, or just breathe deeply and relax.
Remember, your bridal morning sets the tone for the rest of your wedding day. You are hopefully surrounding yourself with the people you want with you and that's so important. By taking the time to relax, prepare, and spend time with your loved ones, you'll be setting yourself up for a beautiful and memorable day. So take a deep breath, enjoy the moment, and get ready to say "I do!"
